How to: Wash and disinfect your makeup brushes

How to : Wash your makeup brushes.

Cleaning your makeup brushes is very very important. I can’t emphasis enough. And to buy expensive makeup brush cleaners and using them very often is not such a great idea. If you can, go ahead and do that, that’s the easiest way of cleaning and washing your brushes.

Now there are two ways to clean your brushes

- Spot cleaning

- Deep cleaning

I myself am not a big believer in spot cleaning, because firstly i use almost same products on my face and secondly spot cleaning isn’t that effective. And instead of buying a spot cleaner, rubbing your brush on a tissue surface does the drill.

I am gonna share 2 techniques in this blog on how to deep clean and disinfect your makeup brushes.

Technique # 1

All you are gonna need is

Baby shampoo

A paper towel

And Water.

baby shampoo is very gentle. It doesn’t dries out the bristles of the brush. So pour some baby shampoo in the palm of your hand, wet your brush pointing downwards, under the running water and then swirl swirl swirl the brush in the palm of your hand. And you will see the shampoo will lather up and deep clean the brush. And if it has a lot of product build-up and you haven’t washed it from a long time, repeat the process. And you will be able to tell when it’s clean.

Technique # 2

All you are gonna need is

Disinfectant handwash

Plate

Olive oil

Water

In this technique you are not just washing but also conditioning and disinfecting your brushes. Since there might be dirt buil-up and also by disinfecting you make sure that it doesn’t cause any acne on your skin. And it’s an extra step towards your skin care, and of course with a big impact.

Take a plate and pour some disinfectant handwash and olive oil on two sides. Now swirl your brush in between them, and swirl it until you can see all the product has come out and your brush is clean. Andthen rinse it off.

Now put those brushes on paper towel and let them dry.

These are two very easy and affordable ways to wash your brushes.

Note:

Make sure not to wash your brushes under the water upside down. Always rinse it downwards. So it doesn’t lose it’s shape.

Never use too hot water, it will melt the glue and ruin your brush. Luke warm water is ideal.

Make sure not to wet the brush pass the metal part.

When you put your brushes to dry, make sure the bristle are properly shaped, if not than reshape with your hands.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Good Luck !
