Me Time Shenanigans
Finding time for yourself after becoming a mom is hard. You get so busy in a wife’s and mom’s role that often times you forget that you, yourself are an individual person, with certain human needs. I always encourage everyone to take care of themselves, especially moms. It’s super important to find some time for yourself and do things you want to do as an individual, not a wife, not a mom, Just You ! Now the trick here is, keep it realistic. You don’t wanna set unachievable goals and be disappointed. For me personally, Alone time is super important. I use that time to regain my sanity and it helps me to be a better wife and a mom. I’m less likely to snap or be in a bad mood, I’ve more patience , I deal with things better, overall I’m a happier, more energetic person when I get that alone time, and I make sure I provide myself that time.
Before you enter adulthood you find these things to be very little and simple, but once you’re an adult, these are , well basically luxuries. Every night I spend a couple of hours doing stuff I want to do, which has nothing to do with the house or me being a mom. Everyone’s asleep, no one’s neglected, it’s just me and I get to be just myself. Of course some people prefer sleep, I’d much rather have alone time then more sleep.
I have to shower every night. Like I mentioned before in my hair care post, I don’t shampoo everyday, but I find taking a shower at the end of the day really helps me relax and using the products you love is always a plus. Who doesn’t like smelling good ? Anyhow for me taking a shower is like, woah day is over. Right now I’m loving Rituals Zensation Organic rice milk and cherry blossom range.
I absolutely know I’m a little excessive when it comes to moisturizers, but I’ve always been like that. Currently because of the weather I absolutely NEED extreme moisturization otherwise it’s just uncomfortable and annoying. Bioderma Atoderm Creme is an intense moisturizer for really dry and flaky skin, I bought it while I was in Barcelona, with the shower gel as well, but I swear it smells disgusting and super medicine-y. I hate it so much. But again, I NEED IT ! So to combat the smell of this lotion I mix it with Rituals Touch of happiness body cream.
For me blogging is like something I wanna do just for myself. It’s the feeling of accomplishment I get once I’m able to make time for things I want to do. Of course I don’t get as much time as I would like to spend, but like I mentioned, keep it realistic, and do the best you can. I always tell my mom friends to have a hobby or some activity, just for themselves. Once I’m done with taking pictures or writing post,
Tea and TV
Green tea, ahh I love it! My husband thinks I’m crazy for that, well he also thinks I’m a hippie at heart, so it doesn’t surprises him. Anyhow I drink a cup or two, while watching my current favorite tv show “Friends”, when I say TV, I mean I watch it online but Tea and TV sounds fun okay! xP anyhow I just finished Season 8 and boy I’m addicted to that show. Not every night, but that’s the time when I paint my nails or use a face mask and check my phone.
I think Alone-Time is important for everyone, whether you’re a parent or not, but obviously finding some Alone-Time as a parent is harder. Still, try and sneak out sometime for yourself, even if it’s half an hour, you’ll see how much it refreshes your mind.
