Makeup tips for beginners

Makeup tips for beginners

If you follow my blog, you must be aware of how I do not believe in makeup do’s and don’ts. While it is great to have some guidelines it is not absolutely must to follow them. In this blog I am going to be sharing things that I think everyone should know about makeup. You do not have to agree with everything I say. Everything I will be stating is how I see things and what I believe not what everyone else should also follow it.

It’s about expressing yourself:

It annoys me so much when people are like “oh this is not how its done”. These are the rules that you follow bla bla bla yada yada yada. This is stupid. What makeup other person wears should be least of anyone’s concern. You makeup doesn’t cause any harm to other people. There are other big and serious issues people need to concentrate on. If wearing heavy eye makeup and dark lips at the same time makes you feel beautiful and confident, do that. If putting a lot of blush makes you feel beautiful do that. If you like to wear neutral and more subtle makeup looks, like myself, most of the times. Do that ! Nobody should be bothered with it, and if they are it’s their stupidity not your problem. So express yourself, and don’t worry about following the do’s and don’ts.

Making mistakes is part of learning:

You are not gonna wake up on day with the ability to create the most awesome, complicated fancy eye makeup, or 3D lip product application. You are going to make mistakes. Making mistakes only means you are learning. I have heard so many people say there is no way I can do a smokey eye, no matter how basic and easy it is,I’m going to mess it up and look like a disaster. And I am like well, if you don’t do it you will not learn it. Take your time, make mistakes and learn from them. This is how you are going to learn the techniques. Practice makes a man perfect. Keep doing it until you get the hang of it. And don’t be ashamed of your mistakes.Which brings me to the next point,

Embrace your mistakes:

Like all the other things in life, embrace your mistakes. Makeup is not something super serious. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Once you have learned something and you look back and see what a mess you were, embrace that. That was you learning new things, and see the improvement within yourself. It applies on every aspect of life. Embrace the mistakes and see the improvements. Be proud of how far you have come and keep learning more.

There is no going back:

Once you have started using makeup there is no going back. Honestly that sounds dramatic, but you need to know that makeup is fun, it is like a game for grown ups. You enjoy playing it. And once you are into it, there is no way you will ever stop wearing makeup. You can go minimal if you but you can not eliminate it from your life. Which is no big deal, but everytime I see young girls really curious and wishful of playing with makeup I just feel like telling them, there is no going back and you still have a lot of time to play with makeup. Know the right time for you.

It can ruin your skin:

It sounds intimidating I do know that. But when you wear makeup you should know that as much as you enjoy it at that time, if you do not know the right maintenance and care of your skin, makeup products, and tools. You are not doing yourself any favor. Know that how important it is to keep your makeup products and tools clean, wash off your makeup properly and stay hygienic. It is not about just applying makeup. It is about things you use on  your face, it is about how you take them off. Make sure the products you are putting on your face are not super cheap and bad for your skin, make sure that your hands and tools are clean, make sure you do not rub makeup off of your skin, be gentle, do not be harsh on your skin. It will end up causing premature wrinkles and fine lines on your face way too early. As I said it is not just about putting makeup on.

Start with Simple looks and work your way up the ladder:

It is going to be wayyyy easier, if you started with easy and simple 2 eyeshadow looks and worked your way up. If you started direct to create really complicated looks, you are just going to be disappointed and discouraged. So I would say Start with 2 eyeshadow and mascara only. Or add a winged eyeliner, but I think Swiping a lighter eyeshadow on the lids, and a neutral darker shadow, such as brown, in the crease, looks great. With time you are going to have a lot more confidence and control over your makeup. And then you can keep adding steps. And you will be able to create even the most complicated makeup looks.

Buy an affordable Makeup kit instead of small little bits and pieces:

Let’s be honest, makeup can be pretty pretty expensive. I don’t think buying a separate piece from every category is genius. I would totally suggest to buy something affordable and good quality which offers different makeup products. Like I have Sephora Cube, it has, lipsticks, lip glosses, eye bases, neutral eyeshadows, bright neon eyeshadows, it has blushes, it has highlightes, it has everything that you will need to create a beautiful makeup look. And it is all in one little cube. Well, It’s not that little, but considering the range of products in it, it is a little tiny cube. And I think It is absolutely genius. Anybody starting with makeup should own one kit like that. And not waste their money on random little palettes or single products.
