How to put on eyeshadow
I’m so used to of doing makeup, that sometimes I forget to talk about the basics. Recently this girl asked me How to put on eyeshadow ? And it made me realize that how important it is to have a grip on the basics first. So, in this blog post I’ll be sharing How to put on eyeshadow like a pro. I’ll try to keep it as simple and easy as possible.
- How to put on Eyeshadow Tip #1
Prep the eyelids
The application of your eyeshadow mostly depends on the condition of your eyelids.Wash your face. If you’ve oily eyelids, make sure you use a primer, and set it with a setting powder. If you’ve very dark and veiny eyelids, use more opaque eye primer, and conceal it, so the eyeshadow can be true to color, and stay in place all day. This is the best tip, if you really wanna learn how to put on eyeshadow, always make sure you have a smooth canvas to work on.

Choose a right brush
In order to create a perfect and well-blended eye makeup. (You might find Makeup Brushes for Beginners helpful)
- A dense and flat brush will help you to pack on eyeshadow on the lids.
- A fluffy brush will help you blend the harsh lines + apply and blend the crease eyeshadow.

Packing & Blending
Packing: When you apply an eyeshadow on the lids, pack it on, use a patting motion. There will be no fall out and you will get really opaque application. You can use your finger tips too, to pack on the eyeshadow on the lids.
Blending: For the crease eyeshadow, use light circular motions, or wind shield wiper motion to blend the eyeshadow, GENTLY.

Start with the light wash, so it doesn’t go patchy. Build the eyeshadow. Don’t ever take too much product on the brush and apply it on, it will not blend properly.

Follow the Generic Eyeshadow Application Rule
- Outer Corner
- Brow bone
- Lower lash line
Follow this rule. Use a flat eyeshadow brush to pack on eyeshadow on the lids.
Then use a fluffy blending brush and follow the natural crease on your eyes.
After that if you want to create depth in the outer corner, use a feathered, fluffy blended brush, and press the eyeshadow in the outer corner.
Use a flat eyeshadow brush again and apply a highlight shade underneath your brows.
Use the same flat eyeshadow brush and apply the crease eyeshadow on the lower lash line, and blend it with the fluffy blending brush. (Lower Lash line is optional, since I’m talking about how to apply eyeshadow, it wouldn’t be complete without lower lash line. But feel free to skip it.)
