How to Clean Makeup Brushes

We all know how important it is to use clean makeup brushes. Even though I think washing them after every use is just too much, I can’t do it, at all. I deep clean makeup brushes once a week. And I think that is good enough for me.In this blog post I’ll be sharing how I clean makeup brushes the simplest, cheapest and easiest way.

How to clean makeup brushes Step 1

  •          Things you will need to clean and dry your makeup brushes:
  1. Baby shampoo I use Johnson’s baby shampoo
  2. Rubber Bands (optional)
  3. Towel (optional)
  4. Tissue
  5. Gloves (optional)
  6. A plate or a bowl

Have you ever notice once you have clean makeup brushes, your hands look like prunes. That’s where a glove comes in handy, preferably one with texture, as you can see in the picture. It will really deep clean your makeup brushes and get the gunk out. Pour some baby shampoo in a bowl, pick up some baby shampoo on a brush and swirl it on a textured glove. And you will get super clean makeup brushes.

You can use an antiseptic hand-wash as well. To disinfect the brushes, especially if you deal with acne. I think baby shampoo works great, it is gentle and gets the job done.

Properly drying the makeup brushes is just as important as cleaning them. Otherwise they lose shape, and shed, waste of money. You can fold a clean towel and put the bristles facing outwards on the towel, so they can somewhat stay in their original shape. Make sure you’re not using super hot water while washing your makeup brushes. Because hot water unbinds the glue and that just ruins the brush.

But the best way to dry your clean makeup brushes , when you don’t have a drying rack is to use a hair tie and loop it around the brush upside down. As you can see in the picture below, you can use a towel rode,or laundry stand. This way the water doesn’t go in the handle and the brush lasts for years.

This is how I make sure I use clean makeup brushes and they last for longer, because it’s not just about buying them, it’s also about taking care of what you have.

Make sure you use clean makeup brushes.
