Beginner’s Guide to Dark Lips
I wear dark lips quite often, and every time I do, at least one or two people tell me that they can’t pull off a dark lip look, not matter how much they want. It doesn’t surprise me because those lip colors are called “bold” for a reason. Of course the first time you wear a dark lip color, it looks different, out of your comfort-zone, something you’re not used to. So it feels a bit off and jinx your confidence. In this post I’m sharing 3 tips that you might find really helpful as a beginner,
Don’t Go ALL BOLD !
You don’t have t go all out with your makeup and outfit to rock a dark lip color. Because of vampy makeup trend, people confuse wearing dark lip colors with going all bold with eye makeup, contour, highlight and dark lip color. It doesn’t work that way. Keep it simple, keep it subtle, and let the lip color do the talking. Plus you can never go wrong with a classic winged eyeliner.
Since your lip color is going to be bold and the focal point of your whole look, you don’t want to make your makeup look bottom heavy. Balance it out with Brows. Don’t forget to groom/fill-in your brows.
When you apply the lip color, whether you’re using a lip brush or lip pencil or straight from the lipstick bullet, do it with confidence, otherwise the application will be jittery and it will look messy. I honestly believe that no matter what color you use, whether it works with your undertones or not, if you wear it with confidence, you wear it right !
