All about Strobing
As a Makeup Enthusiast I like to keep up with the makeup trends. Lately “Strobing” has taken social media by the storm. And with all the pictures on the internet, everyone wants to know what is this trend. Honestly Strobing is nothing that you’ve never done before. It’s just a fancier word for highlighting the crap out of your face(As if I ever needed any excuse to go ham on the highlighter). All you need to achieve this trend is to, ditch your contour and just stick to highlighting the areas of your face that you normally do, like forehead, nose, cheekbones, cupid’s bow, brow bone, and chin. That’s what all the “strobing” fuss is about.
My thoughts on this trend:
Firstly there’s nothing new that hasn’t been done before, so I’m not so amazed. The dewy skin trend has dimmed the shine of all the “highlighting trends” because if you can make your whole face shine like a diamond with primers, foundations and mists, their’s no amount of selective strobing that would come as shock or surprise. I love highlighting my face. So great it’s trendy. But you don’t need any new products and tools for this new trend.
Do’s and Dont’s:
Now firstly I don’t believe in do’s and dont’s, do whatever you want. But just for like general guidelines, if anyone wants to know. I would totally suggest to AVOID strobing if you have problematic skin, or uneven skin. It’s gonna draw a lot of attention to the unevenness of your skin, and make it look 10x worse. And no one wants that. Whenever you use a highlighter whether you’re strobing or not, avoid the problematic areas on your skin, because it’ll magnify the tinniest pore or the tinniest bump on your skin, and make it look horrible. Plus when you go for heavy highlighted look, make sure it doesn’t look overly shiny or greasy. And I think it’s always a good idea to use a smoothing primer before doing heavy highlighting on your face.
Even though it’s not anything new. Just a fancy name of highlighting. It’s still an amazing trend for summer. It photographs BEAUTIFULLY. Have fun with this new trend.
