7 ways to De-stress
We all need ways to de-stress, revitalize our energy and boost our mood to get through a stressful day. As the world is modernizing, days are getting busier and more stressful. We’re living in such a fast-paced world, getting few minutes out of the day, just for yourself has become such a big deal, and often times when we think of de-stressing we think of a good uninterrupted nap in the middle of the day, or a vacation. Yes ! that’s me, at least once or twice a month I’m like, Mama needs a vacation (haha). In this fast-paced life that is unrealistic, spending just a few minutes doing what you like can really help you get through a stressful day. I can only talk for myself, as a wife and a mommy, there’re about a handful of times through the day, when my sanity gets challenged(lol). I’m not complaining, whatsoever! It’s the reality of life, and lucky people get to experience that, with that being said, I’m human too. Same goes for everyone, no matter what your life is like, if you have a busy life, it can get pretty stressful. Here’re 7 of my favorite ways to De-stress, that help me get through a stressful day.
A cup of Tea:
When I reach a point where the pressure of getting stuff done starts to take control over me. I literally stop everything. Whatever it is, I just stop. I don’t wanna be a grumpy mom, perfect house is not gonna make perfect memories and a happy kid. I take 5 minutes off, watch a funny video, or something, and sip on my tea slowly. I totally shut my mind off for those 5 minutes. I tell myself I don’t need to do anything for now. And I kid you not, it’s amazing the difference it makes.
Chew a Gum:
It’s the littlest thing in the world, but makes such a big difference. Chewing gum really helps calm the nerves, and divert the attention from stressful things. It’s medically proven as well. I like chewing gum whenever I feel stressed and also ANGRY ! It takes a LOT OF BULLSHIT to make me angry, I don’t get angry easily. And even when I do, I don’t like to spit it out. Chewing gum calms your nerves, helps you de-stress and also helps you control your anger, no dragon breath is always a plus.
I love perfectly manicured nails. For a girl, doing girly things is always a relaxing experience. You don’t need to go to a salon and get your nails done in order to de-stress. Do that at home, by yourself. Exactly when you feel like you have no time to spend on yourself, take 5 minutes off and spend them on yourself. It’s going to make you a better mother or a happier person. It can be anything, for me it happens to be painting my nails.
Listen to uplifting Music:
Listen to your favorite songs, not the depressing ones. I don’t like depressing songs anyway. But listening to uplifting songs will make such a big difference. It gives a spring in your step, boosts your energy and changes your whole demeanor. You’ll instantly feel so much more energetic and positive. Plug those ears and dance to your beat, no one’s watching.
A small portion or healthy snacking is the way to go. You don’t need a family pack of potato chips. Snack mindfully. I like to snack on banana and peanut butter. Ahh! I love peanut butter so much, wayyyy more than nutella. What? I know ! (psssttt). Plus potassium helps to elevate your mood.
It’s not only going to help you relax, but it’s good for your skin too. It’s like pampering yourself, and that’s all you need to de-stress. You can make face masks at home, or buy them. Whatever works for you. I have quite a few posts dedicated to homemade face masks on my blog.
Watch your favorite Show:
This one is my favorite of all. Currently I’m obsessed with Pretty little liars. Watch anything that interests you, whether you like comedy, action, horror, or whatever. Watching something that you find interesting takes the pressure off of your brain and refreshes your mind, so you can resume and get back to whatever you were doing, with a better approach.
These are my 7 favorite ways to de-stress.
I hope you find this post helpful.
