5 life-changing morning rituals
I’m so not a morning person. Pulling myself out of the bed is the first battle I win every morning(haha), and in colder months, it takes double the effort. I think everyone understands that whether you’re a morning person or not, it’s not a choice to get up and get started, you just have to or you know what they say “you snooze, you lose”. I know it sounds corny but that’s very true. From past few years I’ve made it my mission to start the day on the right foot, and set the tone for the day.
I’m a stay at home mom, and basically my home is my working place. Except weekends I only leave house to get groceries or pick/drop my little one to preschool a couple of days a week, because of the weather haven’t been going for walks or parks. In this blog post I’m not sharing those amazing tips like go for a jog or hit the gym, walk the dog, make yourself a green smoothie. It works for other people, great ! but for me these things don’t really work.
My morning rituals are simpler and customized to my life-style. For me, well it might not sound super trendy or relevant but a cup of tea works wonders, and smoothie is like chugging down medicine, I know it’s good for me, but it doesn’t help me out to kick start my day on a good note. It works for me as a good after-noon energy boosting drink, but not for the mornings.
I’ve been following these 5 morning rituals from past few years, and again, sounds corny but they’ve been life-changing for me,
Spend extra 10-15 minutes and make your space clean and clutter-free before you sleep. For me, even though the house is always clean, well most of the times, but it’s hard to keep it clutter-free with the toddler on my hands. No matter how exhausted or tired I’m at the end of the day, I always make sure to make my space clean and clutter-free before going to bed, because Cluttered Space = Cluttered Mind ! and that’s the last thing you want when you’re trying to get yourself excited for mornings.
Wake up Early
While I understand even the 5 extra minutes of sleep can be precious in the morning, I prefer to wake up earlier, before my responsibilities start knocking the doors. I make sure I give myself half an hour to fully wake up, and follow my morning hygiene + skincare routine, which literally takes like 5 minutes. When you start hustling the second you open your eyes, it just makes everything 10 times more exhausting and stressful.
We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but how many of us actually sit on the table and have a proper breakfast. Including myself I used to skip breakfast all the time, but from past few years I’ve made it part of my morning routine not to rush the breakfast, and make it more of a bonding time for my little girl and I. Whatever you prefer, just don’t skip the breakfast, your body needs it to function properly.
Being organized changes everything in your life. And I’m not saying start making planners and write it down, which is a great thing, and I do it when I’ve wayyyy too much to keep track of, but I’m just saying being organized in your thoughts and in your space changes everything. For example, trying to figure out your outfit for the day out of a messy unorganized closet is way more time consuming and stressful from grabbing pieces from organized closet(or already put-together outfits, even better). It cuts down on the stress and time you waste trying to put pieces together.
Attitude of Grattitude
You can either dowel on negativity or count your blessings, the amount of energy required is the same. Being positive doesn’t just happen, you have to force yourself to be positive and see the light and be thankful for the good things in your life. Because even if you think it can’t get any worse, in any moment it can, BIG TIME ! So, stop sweating the small stuff and see the blessings in the hustle and bustle of life.
