10 ways to make your eyes look bigger and brighter
Normally we assume that, only the people with narrow eye shapes use certain techniques to make their eyes look bigger and brighter, which is not true at all. I think bigger and brighter eyes make you look so much more awake, relaxed , attentive and fresh. My eyes rarely ever look bright and fresh anymore, for obvious reasons(lol). I use these techniques all the time to achieve wide open, well-rested and bright eyes and I can assure you, a 100% that these techniques work wonders.
De-puff your eyes. When you wake up in the morning, or you’re tired, didn’t get enough sleep, or too stressed, it shows through your eyes. Easiest way to de-puff your eye-area, splash some COLD water.
The Tight-line Trick
Tight-lining with black or dark brown eye-pencil is going to make such a huge difference in the way your eyes look. It’s going to fill the spaces between your lashes and make them appear fuller and longer.
Apply a nude eye-pencil on your water-line. It’ll give an illusion or wider, brighter and bigger eyes. I use Catrice Made to Stay Nude eye-pencil ALL THE TIME ! It not only covers the redness caused by the tiredness or the sleeplessness in your eyes, which is the most prominent on your water liner, but also make them appear brighter.
Define the Lower Lash-line
After brightening up the eyes with nude eye-pencil, define lower lash-line. Keep it as subtle or as dramatic as you like.
Stick to light-neutral Eyeshadows
Light-neutral eyeshadows are the best when you’re trying to make your eye look bigger and brighter, and avoid using dark eyeshadows. It’s the same logic as “avoid painting small spaces with darker color, and opt for lighter and brighter colors, that tend to reflect light and make the space look bigger”.
Applying the crease eyeshadow a little higher than your actual crease is going to create an illusion of more “lid space” and bigger eyes, but make sure you keep it really subtle. Don’t over do this step or it might end up looking weird.
Acknowledge and use the power of an eyelash curler. It lifts up the eye-lids, just a bit, but it makes a huge difference in the way your eyes look. So, spend few more seconds and curl those lashes up.
It’s such a no-brainer. Mascara makes everything look so much better. Coat that mascara on and make it hold that curl up.
Just to put cherry on top of all the work you did, put a little highlight in the inner corners of the eyes and the brow-bone. It’s going to make your eyes look so much brighter and open.
Conceal all the darkness and discoloration around your eyes for the ultimate big-bright-eye-effect.
