10 Healthy changes to lose weight after pergnancy
Everyone gains extra pounds during the pregnancy ,that’s how it’s supposed to be. That’s your body providing a safe place for your child to develop. You’re lucky if you gain right amount of weight, and provide enough space for your little one to develop properly. So worrying about gaining that weight should be least of your concern. Once you give birth, and you have a pudgy tummy, you don’t feel like yourself, it starts getting to you. And it’s very normal to feel desperate to tone it up. However with that being said, I also would like to point out that your body is still recovering. It took you 9 – 9+ months to gain all that weight. Your body need at least 6 months post-partum to recover. So before letting the desperation of losing weight get in your way of being a happy and healthy mom, understand, patience is the key. Don’t rush things, nothing good comes out of it. Get your priorities straight.
Next thing you need to understand is, if you’re a breast feeding mom, you’re providing nutrition to your little one to strive and live a healthy life. First few months of their lives are very crucial, a lot of babies lose weight in the first month after they’re born, and they need that nutrition to develop properly, because that’s the time period when they grow the fastest. In Korean tradition they celebrate 100 days of baby’s birth, because it’s a milestone for making it through the hardest days after birth for baby and also for the new parents. You need that nutrition in order to provide them the nutrition they need. Starving yourself, or cutting on the food you eat isn’t a healthy way to go about it, not for you, not for your baby.
Now that those things are out of the way, I’m sharing the little lifestyle changes that you can make in order to lose weight after pregnancy.
Drink lots of Water:
Water intake is so so so important in general. But it helps you with losing weight. It removes the toxins out of your body, boosts the metabolism, and helps you avoid binge eating and boredom snacking. Let’s be honest it’s very easy to get bored when you have a newborn, they’re not very interactive, and you spend the whole day with them, as much as you cherish their presence and feel over-whelmed by love and emotions, your hormonal changes make you eat all sorts of rubbish. Drinking lots of water suppresses the tickle of snacking.
Walking is the best thing you can do, not only for you but for your baby too. They see new things, they hear new sounds, they become more interactive and learn quickly. They enjoy it, and even though they’re not doing any physical activity they still get tired, they’re babies, it’s baby logic. Afterwards they sleep better too. It will not only help you shed some extra pounds but also it’ll make you feel alive. Yes ! I said that. Don’t coop up in 4 walls, go out and look around, even if you feel/look like crap. Nobody cares ! You might end up finding new moms too, and you can socialize as well. That’s how new-mom circle works.
Slow Jog/Fast walk:
If you can’t take walks, or you’re not comfortable with that for any reason. You can slow jog at home, in your room, in your lawn, on the roof top, anywhere, it’s just collecting the will power and pushing yourself to do it. The days I didn’t go out for walks, which are not many to be honest, I worked out at home. It’s just about getting that heart beat pumped up, do it however you want, and you’ll burn calories and tone your body.
Drink Green Tea:
I can’t recommend it enough. Green tea is AMAZING ! I absolutely love green tea, well NOW ! I hated it in the beginning like all the other people in the world. But I didn’t quit drinking it. Research says, it takes 28 days for your tongue to develop a new taste. So even if you don’t like it, keep pushing it in. A few drops of fresh lemon, and it will not only help you lose weight, but also clear out your skin. Plus it will help you avoid the postpartum break outs on your face. It also helps in digestion, and doesn’t let fat to be stored in wrong places. It flushes it out, and helps you get back in shape quickly.
I don’t have any help whatsoever. And I think it has played a big part for me to get back in shape quickly. The house chores and a baby to take care of 24/7 kept/keeps me on my toes. I’m always doing something, and always on the go. It really, REALLY helped/helps to maintain where I am. And I’m not the fittest person in the world, but I like myself where I am, and now I just like to maintain it.
Eat small portions. Instead of 3 big meals, eat 5 small meals. It’ll keep your metabolism active. You won’t over-eat and also eating small portions helps you avoid the lower belly-pudge. It’s easier to get your body toned when you eat small meals, rather than big portions far apart, it keeps your metabolism in action all the time.
A lot of people confuse exercise with hardcore work outs in the gym. No ! Start with any low intensity work outs. For example, roping, plug in your ears, and play the music you love, loud !!!! it will help you get in the groove and get your body moving. 30 minutes of alternating low-intensity and high-intensity roping will really help you get toned in ALL PLACES of your body. You will feel the burn. Roping is fun but NO JOKE. But of course that’s what I like, you can go for stretching, yoga, spinning whatever you like.
Get enough Sleep:
Let me just say, it’s impossible (lol).I know it’s impossible to get enough sleep. But try and get as much as you can. It plays a very important role in your whole body mechanism, and your mood. I’m not going in detail, because I know it doesn’t work like that(lol), but I’d do it all over again, in a heartbeat, because it’s so WORTH IT.
Eat fat burning foods:
Instead of eating hard to digest, processed foods, eat fat burning foods. Like, grapefruit, blueberries, strawberries, cucumber, tomatoes, spinach, apples, pineapples, eggs, chicken breasts, bananas, oatmeal, watermelon, avacados, fish, quinoa etc. It’ll not only help you get back in shape quickly, but also it’s great for your health and well-being.
Drinking hot water, infused with some ginger will really help you get rid of those extra pounds, and there’s nothing harmful about it. It’s all natural. Even if you’re a breast feeding mother, it’s totally safe for you and your baby as well. Of course you don’t wanna over-do anything. A cup in the morning does just fine. It controls the blood sugar levels in your body. If you can’t stand the taste, I HATE GINGER ! add a tsp of honey, it only makes it more beneficial for you.
These’re all my tips to help you feel the most confident in your own skin.
I hope you find this post helpful.
